A seller is asking $1,379 for this small-form-factor gaming PC. It includes a Ryzen 5 9600X, Radeon RX 9060 XT with 16GB of VRAM, 32GB of Crucial DDR5-6000 memory with 36-38-38-80 timings, an ASRock B850I Lightning WiFi motherboard, a 2TB Crucial NVMe SSD, and a Fractal Design Terra Mini-ITX case. I would install SteamOS and use it as a quiet living-room gaming system controlled from the couch. Does the price seem fair, and would this hardware be a good replacement for a console-style Steam Machine?

At first glance, $1,379 seems like a very good price for these parts, especially in such a compact case. A comparable new build can cost considerably more once you include the motherboard, SFX power supply, case, storage, and graphics card. The price is low enough that I’d verify the exact GPU model, power supply, cooling setup, warranty, and whether the system is new or used before buying.
SteamOS makes sense if this is mainly going to live in the room and you want a controller-friendly interface from the couch. Just keep in mind that Linux compatibility is still less universal than Windows, so some games, launchers, anti-cheat systems, and non-gaming applications may require workarounds or may not run at all.
That setup can work, but a regular desktop interface with a wireless keyboard and mouse is also easy to use from the couch. Windows would give you broader game and application compatibility, while SteamOS is better if you value a console-style experience and mostly play supported titles.
The goal is mainly a console-like living-room setup where I can turn it on, use a controller, and launch games without needing a desk or mouse.
