Is a used RTX 4060 Ti for €200 a better buy than a 5060?

I live in Europe and have been offered a used MSI Gaming X RTX 4060 Ti 8GB in great condition for €200. I have not been able to find an RTX 5060 at a similar price or condition. I mainly want advice for DaVinci Resolve video editing and gaming. I do not play many demanding AAA games; recently I have played Forza Horizon 6 and Crimson Desert. My current system has an RX 5700 XT and an i7-8700K. The graphics card takes around 25 minutes to render a one-minute video, while the CPU still performs adequately. I may upgrade to a Ryzen 7 5700X soon because I cannot currently afford a DDR5 platform. Is the 8GB RTX 4060 Ti worth buying for €200, or would it be better to wait for an RTX 5060?

If video editing is your priority, also consider the CPU upgrade. DaVinci Resolve can benefit from more cores, so a used Ryzen 9 5900X or 5950X could help in some workloads. A used RTX 3080 might be another option for roughly €100 more, but it consumes much more power and should only be considered with a reliable, sufficiently powerful PSU.

My current power supply is a cheap unit that came with the PC, so I am avoiding higher-power cards. I have already ordered a lower-wattage but better-quality replacement PSU.

The main thing to watch is VRAM. A 16GB card would age better and could be more comfortable for high-resolution editing, but the 8GB 4060 Ti is still a meaningful upgrade from the RX 5700 XT for both gaming and productivity. For €200, I would favor the 4060 Ti rather than paying considerably more for a 5060.

That makes sense. I mostly edit and play at modest settings, so I may not run into the 8GB limit immediately.

The 4060 Ti also has the newer encoding and AI features that can be useful in editing applications. It may not be a perfect long-term card because of the 8GB memory, but the combination of a working used card, a €200 price, and a large upgrade over the RX 5700 XT makes it a sensible purchase.

At €200, the RTX 4060 Ti is generally a very good deal. It is around the same performance class as the RTX 5060 and should provide a noticeable improvement over your RX 5700 XT, especially for GPU-accelerated work in DaVinci Resolve. The 8GB of VRAM is not ideal for long-term use, but at this price it is still compelling if the card is tested and in good condition.

It is the 8GB MSI Gaming X model. I was unsure whether the lower VRAM made the deal less attractive, but the price does seem hard to beat.
