My current gaming PC has a Ryzen 5 5600, RTX 3060 12GB, 32GB DDR4-3200, an MSI B550 Tomahawk, a 1TB NVMe drive, a 2TB SATA SSD, and a Corsair RM650x power supply. I play mostly at 1440p on a 165Hz monitor, with games such as Cyberpunk and F1 25. I also use Lightroom and Photoshop occasionally, but gaming is the main reason for upgrading.
I'd like to keep the motherboard, memory, and power supply if possible, and upgrade only the CPU and GPU. I'm considering a Ryzen 7 5700X3D paired with a graphics card in roughly the $500–$600 range. Would that be a noticeable jump from the RTX 3060, and is there any obvious compatibility issue or bottleneck I'm overlooking?

That’s a sensible upgrade path. The 5700X3D is a strong gaming CPU for the AM4 platform, and its extra cores should also help with Lightroom and Photoshop. Nothing about the rest of your system stands out as an obvious problem.
A 5700X3D paired with something like an RX 9060 XT, RX 9070, or RTX 5070 would make sense for 1440p gaming. Check the specific card’s recommended PSU wattage before buying, though—the 650W unit may be fine for some models but could be marginal for others.
If it fits your budget, prioritize the 5700X3D or 5800X3D and look for a GPU with 16GB of VRAM, such as an RX 9070 XT or another suitable 16GB model. That should provide a substantial improvement over the 3060, especially at 1440p.
Your DDR4-3200 memory will work, but DDR4-3600 is often a good performance and stability point for Ryzen 5000. It’s more of a minor optimization than something you need to replace immediately.
