How can I stop persistent business-loan spam texts sent to the wrong person?

For roughly eight months, I've been receiving 10–12 text messages per day offering business lines of credit or loans. The messages are usually addressed to someone named Robert and often mention a company called Epilogue Systems, so I assume my number was accidentally added to a marketing list. I have an Android S24 with the latest software. Reporting the messages through my spam-blocking service has stopped most generic spam, but not these targeted messages. They come from constantly changing numbers, although the wording and subject matter are very similar. I also tried using the F-Droid Spamblocker app with keyword rules, but messages still arrive even when they appear to match a rule. Has anyone found a reliable way to filter or prevent this kind of repeated spam?

Since the messages come from different numbers, blocking individual senders probably won’t be enough. Contact your mobile provider and ask whether they can investigate the campaign, filter the recurring sender patterns, or enable stronger network-level spam protection. Give them several examples and the dates they arrived.

Try the spam-protection and filtering options built into the messaging app on the S24, such as Samsung Messages or Google Messages. Mark every one of these texts as spam rather than replying, and check whether suspected spam can be automatically hidden or sent to a separate folder. Keyword filters from third-party apps may not be able to stop a message after the carrier has already delivered it.

I wouldn’t keep responding, even to tell them they have the wrong person. Replies can confirm that your number is active, and changing numbers makes the conversation approach ineffective anyway. Report each message as spam, block it, and avoid clicking links or following instructions in the texts.

I’ve tried replying a few times and it hasn’t reduced the volume, so I’ll stop engaging and focus on reporting them through the carrier and my messaging app.
