I'm setting up an Apple Account on a new iPhone 16. I enter my email and password, verify the code sent to my email, and then reach the debit-card section. The card's security code keeps being rejected even though I've entered it carefully and confirmed that the card isn't locked. I had an Apple Account years ago, but I'm not sure whether that matters. What can I do to finish setting up the account or use a different payment method?

First, confirm the card number, expiration date, billing address, and security code with your bank or card issuer. If everything is correct, try adding a different payment method instead of repeatedly retrying the same card.
You may be able to update the payment method through Apple’s account and media services website. Sign in with the same email and password, replace or add the payment method there, and then continue the setup on the iPhone. This can help when an older Apple Account payment or security setting is causing the card setup to fail.

The card details are correct and the card is unlocked. How can I add another payment method if I can’t finish creating the account?
