I'm currently using an RTX 4060 Ti 8GB with a Core i9-13900K, 32GB of RAM, and a 750W power supply. I'm clearly GPU-limited and would like to upgrade to something that handles 4K gaming more comfortably. What graphics card and power supply combination would make the most sense with a budget of around $1,000?

I’ve had a good experience with the RX 9070 XT. AMD drivers can occasionally have a timeout, but in normal use they’ve been stable for me across a large number of games. I’ve only encountered a couple of timeouts, and compatibility has been much better than my experience with an older Radeon card.
For a roughly $1,000 budget, the main choices are the RX 9070 XT or RTX 5070 Ti. The 9070 XT is generally the better deal, while the 5070 Ti may be more appealing if you specifically want Nvidia features such as DLSS and stronger upscaling support for demanding 4K games.
That’s the part I’m unsure about with 4K gaming. Isn’t FSR still behind DLSS, especially in newer games where upscaling may be necessary? I’m also comparing these two cards for an upgrade from an RTX 3080.
The Radeon RX 9070 XT looks like the strongest value in this price range. It offers performance close to the RTX 5070 Ti, while some models cost roughly $720 compared with the 5070 Ti starting closer to $1,049. That leaves room in the budget for a good PSU if you decide to replace yours.
The RX 9070 XT is probably the straightforward recommendation under $1,000. Your 750W PSU may be perfectly adequate if it’s a high-quality unit, but the i9-13900K can draw a lot of power. If you’re buying a new PSU anyway, an 850W model from a reputable brand would provide more headroom.
If you prefer Nvidia, an RTX 5070 Ti could work, especially if you find a discounted bundle or local deal around $950. Otherwise, many models are closer to $1,050–$1,100, making the 9070 XT easier to fit into the total budget. The older RTX 4070 Ti Super is another option if you find one at a good price.
I use a 9070 XT for ultrawide 1440p and it handles the resolution very well. I’ve only had two or three driver timeouts across several games, so they’ve been rare rather than a constant problem.
