I'm using the onscreen keyboard to type this because the physical T key on my keyboard randomly stops registering in Windows 11. The key appears to work normally at other times, but once it stops responding, it won't work again until I restart the computer. What could be causing this, and how can I determine whether the problem is the keyboard or Windows?

Try disconnecting the keyboard and plugging it into a different USB port, preferably one on a different side or row of ports. Windows may reinitialize it as a new device. Also check whether Sticky Keys or another keyboard accessibility feature has been enabled, since those settings can sometimes cause confusing input behavior.
Test the keyboard before Windows loads. You can try typing in a BIOS or UEFI field, or boot from a live environment such as a Windows recovery or installation USB. If the T key fails there too, the keyboard is probably faulty. If it works normally outside Windows, investigate drivers, keyboard utilities, accessibility settings, or other software in Windows.
Intermittent behavior doesn’t necessarily mean the key is working properly. The switch or contact underneath the key could be failing, especially if the key only registers when pressed from a particular angle or spot. Try carefully pressing it in different areas and, if possible, test another keyboard on the same computer.
