I'm new to PC gaming and just got this computer, but I can't get any video output. The PC and monitor power on, yet the monitor only says "No signal," and the keyboard and mouse don't appear to receive power. I'm not sure whether something is plugged in incorrectly or if there's a hardware problem. What should I check first?

Since the keyboard and mouse aren’t powering up either, check the rear power switch, the wall outlet or power strip, and all internal power connections if you’re comfortable opening the case. Unplug the PC, hold the power button for a few seconds, reconnect it, and try again. If it’s brand new and still shows no signal, it may be best to have the shop inspect it rather than risk damaging anything.
First, confirm that the monitor cable is connected to the correct video output. If the PC has a dedicated graphics card, plug the cable into the ports on the graphics card lower down on the back—not the motherboard video ports near the USB connections. Also make sure the monitor is set to the right input and that the power cables are firmly connected.
Because the computer is new, it could have a loose component from shipping, such as the graphics card or memory. The lights coming on only confirm that it receives some power; they don’t prove that it is completing startup. Check the basic cable and input settings first, then use the store’s warranty or take it to a repair shop if you’re not familiar with reseating hardware.
