One PDF Won’t Move to a Shared Drive While Other Files Work

A user is unable to move one downloaded PDF file to a shared drive folder and receives an "Invalid File Handle" error. Other file types move normally, and she owns the destination folder. Downloading this particular PDF directly to the shared drive also appears to do nothing, without showing an error. Other downloads work as expected. Has anyone encountered this, and what usually fixes it?

Check whether Windows has blocked the downloaded file. Open the file’s Properties and look for an Unblock option, then apply it and try moving the PDF again.

I hadn’t thought to check that. I’ll verify whether the file is marked as blocked.

Path length can cause strange copy and upload failures, especially with synchronized or shared-drive folders. Check the full path and try shortening the file name or moving it to a higher-level folder first.

Try opening the PDF and using Save As to create a new copy, then move that copy. If it still fails, print the document to Microsoft Print to PDF and save the resulting file with a new name. Rebuilding the PDF this way often fixes files with unusual metadata or conversion issues.
