I accidentally spilled a small amount of water on my computer. Some went through a ventilation opening, and I can see a few droplets inside near the bottom of the case. The computer was still running when it happened, but I've now shut it down and disconnected it from power. What should I do next, and how long should I wait before turning it on again?

Avoid using a hair dryer or blasting the inside with hot air. That can push water farther into the hardware or create static and heat damage. Cool, gentle airflow is safer if you have it, but patience and thorough drying are the main things.
Keep it completely powered off and unplugged. Remove the side panel, gently blot up any visible moisture, and leave the case open in a dry, well-ventilated place for at least 24–48 hours. Don’t reconnect it just because the outside looks dry; moisture can remain under components or connectors.
Once it’s dry, inspect the motherboard, graphics card, power connectors, and the bottom of the case for droplets or residue. Plain water is less troublesome than soda, coffee, or other drinks, but mineral deposits can still cause corrosion or shorts. If the spill was more than a few drops or the computer behaves strangely afterward, have it inspected before continued use.
I’ve shut it down and unplugged it. The ventilation area was slightly wet, but I’m not sure whether any water reached the components.
