I recently switched from Tiny11 to Bazzite. On my previous setup, my CPU and GPU temperatures were usually around 90–100°C, but now they rarely go above 80°C, according to btop. My fans also run much less often and the system is noticeably quieter, even while gaming. Is this a normal result of having fewer background processes, or could something be preventing the CPU and GPU from reaching their full performance?

Check whether the CPU and GPU can reach close to 100% usage and their expected power draw during a demanding game or benchmark. If they can and performance is where it should be, the lower temperatures are probably a good sign rather than a problem.
That can be completely normal. A different operating system may have fewer background services constantly using the CPU, scanning files, or waking the system, so there is less heat and fan noise. The important thing is whether your games still perform normally.
I noticed something similar after switching systems. My fans spin up much less often, even while gaming. As long as you are not seeing lower frame rates, stuttering, crashes, or unexpectedly low clock speeds, quieter operation and temperatures under 80°C are nothing to worry about.
That is reassuring. My computer is much quieter now; before, the fans sounded like the system was about to take off.
I do not play many demanding games. Would a benchmark be better, or would heavily modded Minecraft with around 100 mods be enough to test it?
