I've been using an RX 7700 XT and, although the performance is generally good, I've been dealing with frequent driver problems, random game crashes, and poor performance in certain maps and games such as BeamNG. I'm considering switching to Nvidia and would like a card with similar or better performance at roughly the same overall value. Should I make the switch, troubleshoot the current card further, or wait for better pricing?

Used cards may offer better value than buying new. A used RTX 4070 Super around $450 or an RTX 4070 Ti 12GB around $500 could be reasonable alternatives, depending on condition and local pricing. A used RTX 3080 is another possibility, though its power usage is higher.
For a new Nvidia option, the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB is close to the same general market segment, while an RTX 5070 would provide roughly a 30% performance increase. The 5070 is more appealing if you can find it for under about $600.
This may not necessarily be an AMD-versus-Nvidia issue. Try using DDU to completely remove the current drivers, then test a few older driver versions. Some recent drivers have reportedly caused problems on RDNA 3 cards.
The problems have been happening for at least six months. I haven’t done much testing beyond finding reports that point toward driver issues.

If prices are still that high, would waiting be the better choice?
