Water Spilled Into My Mini PC—No Display or USB Power

My cat spilled water, and some of it got into the bottom of my BOSGAME P4 Mini PC. It still powers on, but there is no display output and the keyboard and mouse receive no power through USB. I bought it prebuilt, and the case appears difficult to open. I need a working computer by August 22 at 11:00 AM, but I currently can't afford a repair shop. What should I do without causing more damage?

The case may be difficult, but these mini PCs can usually be opened with a small precision screwdriver. Once unplugged, remove any visible standing water, then clean affected circuit boards and USB ports with high-purity isopropyl alcohol. Let everything dry completely—preferably for many hours or overnight—before testing it again. Avoid using heat from a hair dryer, since it can damage components or push moisture deeper inside.

A short drying period may not be enough, especially if water reached underneath chips or connectors. If anything still looks damp, keep it disconnected and give it more time rather than powering it on.

Unplug the mini PC immediately and stop trying to power it on. If there is a removable power adapter or battery connection, disconnect that too. Water can short components while the system is running, and repeated attempts may turn a repairable problem into permanent damage.

Since you need a computer by tomorrow morning, make a backup plan now—borrow one, use a library or school computer, or buy a replacement if possible. Don’t keep testing the wet machine while you wait, because powering it on before it is fully dry can destroy the motherboard.

Because you have no video output and no power on the USB ports, this is probably more serious than a bad keyboard, mouse, or display cable. A repair technician may need to clean the board, check for corrosion, and replace damaged components. If the repair cost approaches the price of another mini PC, replacing it may be the more practical option.
