After a crash in Ghost Recon Wildlands caused some media-related problems, I updated my BIOS and chipset drivers. Most things are working normally, but Windows Search now behaves oddly. When I press the Windows key and type, or use Win+S, the search panel opens almost completely black with only the search bar visible. The results do not appear until several seconds later. I have already restarted SearchApp.exe, re-registered the Windows Search package, and reset the graphics driver with Win+Ctrl+Shift+B, but none of that helped. Could the BIOS or chipset update have affected a graphics or shader cache that Windows Search depends on?

Try running Disk Cleanup and include the DirectX Shader Cache. You can also clear the GPU shader cache for your NVIDIA or AMD graphics card, since corrupted cached shaders can sometimes cause delayed or black UI rendering. A reputable temporary-file cleaner can do the same thing, but Disk Cleanup is the safer first option.
Will Disk Cleanup delete anything important, such as files in my Downloads folder or other files on the C: drive?
