How can I turn a dynamic website into a matching static copy?

I need to convert an existing dynamic website into a static version, but I don't have access to its WordPress files or admin panel. I want the result to match the original as closely as possible, including small visual details such as header and footer dimensions, spacing, logo placement, styling, and other layout elements. What tools or workflow should I use?

If you have permission to copy the site, tools such as wget, HTTrack, or SiteSucker can download the publicly accessible HTML, CSS, JavaScript, images, and other assets. Make sure recursive downloading and asset conversion options are enabled, then check the saved pages for missing stylesheets or media. Only content that is delivered to the browser can be captured this way.

That makes sense. I’ll check the downloaded pages carefully for missing CSS and assets.

For a close visual match, compare the original and downloaded versions in the browser and fix paths, fonts, responsive breakpoints, image URLs, and JavaScript dependencies. Also confirm that you’re authorized to reproduce the site and its content, since copying someone else’s design or assets may create legal or security issues.

A static mirror won’t preserve server-side or WordPress functionality automatically. Things like logins, search, contact forms, shopping carts, databases, and content that changes dynamically will need to be removed or rebuilt with a suitable static alternative. You can inspect the page source and browser developer tools to identify the files and assets the page loads.
