I'm currently using an Intel i3-10105F, a GT 1030, 24GB of mixed DDR4 memory, and a 600W EVGA 80+ Gold power supply. I mainly play competitive FPS games at 1080p, and the GT 1030 is clearly the weakest part of the system. I'm debating whether to save for a completely new build or upgrade the graphics card now and reuse it in a future system. I'm considering a used RTX 2070 or an RX 6600, but I'm open to other suggestions. Is the CPU likely to hold these cards back significantly, and which GPU would make the most sense?

A used RTX 3070 around $250 can be a good deal, although the i3-10105F may limit it in some CPU-heavy games. For 1080p competitive gaming, though, it would still be a huge improvement over the GT 1030. Just make sure the card is in good condition and that the price is reasonable.
Both the RTX 2070 and RX 6600 would be massive upgrades and are sensible choices for your current system. You could also look at cards such as the RTX 3060 Ti, RTX 4060, RX 6700 XT, or RX 7600, depending on local prices and whether you’re buying new or used. There’s no need to replace the entire computer right now—you can upgrade the GPU first and move it into a future build later. Your current system is dated, but it isn’t so bad that a complete rebuild is mandatory.
