I'm a 3D artist who works primarily in ZBrush and I'm building a new computer. I'm choosing between the AMD Ryzen 7 9700X and Intel Core Ultra 7 265K. Which processor would provide the better overall experience for sculpting, brush responsiveness, and rendering in ZBrush?

Between those two, I’d lean toward the Core Ultra 7 265K if your workload includes heavy rendering or other multithreaded tasks. Its higher core count should give it an advantage when rendering, while still offering strong single-core performance for sculpting.

For ZBrush, fast single-core performance matters for brush responsiveness, but extra cores can help with real-time canvas rendering and other production work. If the price is close, the Intel chip is the better choice here. Also plan for at least 32 GB of RAM; 64 GB or more is preferable for large models and multitasking. If similarly priced higher-end chips such as the 9950X3D or Core Ultra 7 270K Plus are available, they may offer better value for a professional ZBrush system.
