How can I create an app to hide YouTube distractions on iPhone?

I'm really tired of being distracted by all the unnecessary content when I use YouTube for important tasks. The homepage, suggested videos, the shorts feature, and the end screens keep pulling my attention away. I want to develop an app that blocks or hides these distractions on my iPhone. Any suggestions on how to get started with this project would be hugely appreciated!

You probably won’t be able to modify the existing YouTube app directly, but you can create a new app to search YouTube without having to go through the main page. It might be worth checking if there’s an option in the YouTube app settings to prevent it from automatically switching to shorts, but I’m not sure since I don’t have an iPhone to check.

Thanks for the insight! I did check the settings, but there’s no permanent way to turn off shorts. Just a temporary button that goes away in a few days.
