For the past few weeks, I've been trying to install programs I need for work, especially AutoCAD and Acrobat. I previously had an AutoCAD subscription that expired, and I attempted to use an unofficial cracked version, but it conflicted with the existing installation. I then used Revo Uninstaller to remove the AutoCAD components. Since doing that, newly downloaded programs appear to download successfully but won't open. I'm not sure whether there's an error message or a Windows setting preventing them from running. What should I check to fix this?

The first step is to identify whether the problem is downloading, installing, or launching. Check whether Windows shows an error message, and look in your Downloads folder to confirm the file type. If the file is an installer, right-click it, choose Properties, select Unblock if that option appears, and then try Run as administrator. Also make sure Windows Security or another antivirus program hasn’t quarantined it.
Revo may have removed shared components or changed file associations, but it’s unlikely to prevent every program from opening by itself. Run Windows Update, restart the laptop, and try installing a small, trusted application from its official website. If several unrelated programs still fail, run the System File Checker with `sfc /scannow` from an elevated Command Prompt, then restart. Avoid cracked software because it can contain malware or damage system files; reinstall AutoCAD and Acrobat only through their official installers or legitimate licenses.
Since the files download but do not open, the exact error message is important. Also check whether Windows is blocking the application or whether your antivirus history shows it was stopped.
