I can get an RTX 5070 for $520, while an RX 9070 XT costs $720 and the non-XT RX 9070 is $630. Which option offers the best value for gaming? The RTX 5070 would be bought from someone I know at a discounted price, so it may be used or otherwise below typical retail pricing.

For gaming performance and longer-term usefulness, I’d normally pick the RX 9070. It is faster in most games, offers more VRAM, and should age better than the RTX 5070. The 9070 XT is even faster, but at $720 the price gap makes the regular 9070 more appealing.
If the $520 5070 is in good condition, I’d buy it rather than paying $630 or $720. Under normal retail pricing, the RX 9070 or 9070 XT would be better choices because of their extra performance and VRAM, but this discounted 5070 changes the comparison completely.
The RTX 5070’s lower power draw and strong ray-tracing features are worth considering, especially if you play at 1080p or 1440p.
