I lost my MacBook Air on Friday night near 12th Main in Indiranagar, Bangalore. It was inside a dark blue laptop sleeve. Restaurant CCTV shows me leaving with the bag, then taking an auto-rickshaw home, so I suspect the sleeve fell out during the ride.
Find My has continued showing the MacBook in essentially the same small area since Saturday, with fresh timestamps. I have searched the exact spot repeatedly and asked nearby restaurants, shops, vendors, and security staff, but nobody has found it. The Mac was left sleeping with the lid closed and should still have had battery power.
Find My appears to be detecting it through Apple's offline Bluetooth network, but Play Sound will not connect and Lost Mode is still pending. Unlike AirTags, the MacBook does not provide a nearby distance-and-direction view. Bluetooth scanner apps show many nearby devices, with no obvious way to identify the MacBook.
Is there any practical technical method—such as a BLE scanner, RSSI measurements, or identifying Find My advertisements—to get physically closer to the laptop? Could connecting it to a previously saved phone hotspot trigger it to come online or play a sound? I'm looking for realistic suggestions from anyone familiar with how MacBook Find My detection works.

You could try enabling a phone hotspot if the MacBook had previously saved that network. If it reconnects, it may come online and allow Play Sound or Lost Mode to update. This is only worth trying if the hotspot name and password are exactly what the Mac remembers, and it may not work while the Mac is asleep.
Unfortunately, ordinary Bluetooth scanner apps generally cannot turn Find My into a precision-finding system. Apple’s Find My advertisements are designed to be private and cryptographically protected, and the MacBook does not expose the same directional UWB feature available on some newer devices. RSSI readings from random BLE identifiers would also be extremely unreliable on a busy street because reflections, people, vehicles, and other devices can change the signal strength dramatically.
