I've reached the default 8-vCPU EC2 quota in a specific AWS region and need to increase it to 16 vCPUs. I submitted a quota increase request several days ago, but I haven't received a clear response. A support call ended immediately, followed by an automated update in the case. The instances I need are standard m- and c-series machines, not GPU instances. Should I wait for the existing request, close it and submit another one, or use a different support process?

Make sure you submitted an actual EC2 service quota increase through the quota management workflow rather than opening a general support case. In many cases, the quota request is processed separately and may be approved automatically without a normal support ticket.
The approval process can depend on the instance family, account age, usage history, and support plan. GPU capacity is often heavily constrained, but standard m- and c-series capacity is usually less difficult. A newer individual account may still receive more scrutiny, even with paid support.

It’s a newer individual account with paid support, and I’m only requesting an increase from 8 to 16 vCPUs for non-GPU instances.
