I'm considering upgrading from my AOC 24-inch 1080p 75Hz monitor to a 1440p display. I mostly play single-player games, open-world titles, and RPGs, usually targeting a locked 60 FPS. My system has a Ryzen 7 5800X3D, ASUS RTX 3080 10GB, 32GB of 3600MHz RAM, and a 750W Gold-rated power supply. Would this hardware handle 1440p at 60 FPS comfortably, and is the upgrade worthwhile? I'm also considering a 1440p monitor with a 144Hz refresh rate.

I’d definitely make the jump. A 27-inch 1440p monitor in the 144–165Hz range is a great match for your hardware and is widely considered a sweet spot for PC gaming. You don’t need to run every game at Ultra settings with ray tracing enabled; adjusting a few options can keep performance smooth.
Your hardware is more than adequate, and 1440p is a substantial improvement over 1080p without being as demanding as 4K. Even if a particularly demanding game struggles, you can enable upscaling, reduce a couple of settings, or run it at 1080p temporarily on the new monitor. If your budget allows, a 1440p OLED at 144Hz or higher would be an especially impressive upgrade.

That’s reassuring. My main concern was the 3080’s 10GB of VRAM, but I can use DLSS Quality or lower texture settings if a newer game pushes it too hard.
