Can I Stop Forza Horizon 6 From Crashing on an Unsupported GTX 1080 Ti?

I received Forza Horizon 6 as a gift and have already played around 100 hours. My GTX 1080 Ti handled the game smoothly at about 50 FPS on high settings, with roughly 50% GPU usage, and I had no major issues with other demanding games. After the latest update, however, the game began crashing repeatedly with error FHC11, which appears to be related to the GPU being officially unsupported. I would prefer not to replace the hardware if possible. Are there any software settings, driver changes, or other workarounds that might prevent the crashes? I would even consider changing operating systems, although I have heard Linux may perform worse with this game.

Linux is unlikely to solve this. The game would generally be running through a DirectX-to-Vulkan translation layer, which can add another source of compatibility problems, especially for a title that already rejects the GPU. Windows with current drivers is probably the better environment to troubleshoot this game.

The GTX 1080 Ti was a powerful card, but it is still an older generation and newer games can require features or driver support that it does not provide. If the update changed the game’s hardware requirements, the dependable solution may ultimately be replacing the GPU with a newer supported model.

Some older cards, such as certain GTX 1060 systems, may still run the game, but that does not guarantee every unsupported GPU will work consistently. It could depend on the exact features and driver support the game checks.

Because the crash is specifically tied to the GPU being unsupported, there may not be a reliable fix. You can still try disabling Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling, turning off all overlays, updating or clean-installing the graphics driver, and lowering the game’s graphics settings. These might reduce crashes, but they cannot make the card officially supported.

I tried those changes, but unfortunately the crashes continued.
