Why is my friend’s new gaming PC struggling to stream on Discord?

My friend recently built a powerful gaming PC with an MSI Pro Z790-P motherboard, an Intel Core i7-14700KF processor, 64GB of DDR5 RAM, an RTX 4070 Super GPU, and a 2TB NVMe SSD, running Windows 11. While the system handles high settings in games like The Last of Us without a hitch, streaming on Discord is a different story. The voice quality is choppy, and the game only streams properly at very low settings, even at 720p. Her old computer, with lower specs, could easily stream on medium to high settings. We're suspecting it could be an issue with the BIOS, and I recommended updating it since the last version was from 2023. We've already uninstalled and reinstalled drivers for graphics, WiFi, and audio, and we've updated chipset drivers as well. What else could be causing this problem?

You might want to look into any recent Windows updates that could be affecting performance. Drivers can be tricky sometimes, and sometimes a mix of older and newer versions can create conflicts.

Have you tried disabling hardware acceleration in Discord? Some users have found it helps with streaming issues. Also, consider using the web version of Discord for streaming instead of the app to see if that improves the situation.

Make sure you've checked your network stability as well. Sometimes, even with good speeds, packet loss can cause streaming issues. It might also be worth checking if any background applications are using a lot of bandwidth.
