I'm building my first PC in India and have about $400 total for the processor and graphics card. I was considering a Ryzen 5 5600X for around $150 because I mainly play CPU-heavy games, but that would leave only about $200 for a GPU. I'd prefer a 12GB card if possible, although 8GB is acceptable. I've found some inexpensive 8GB cards, but I'm unsure whether spending twice as much for a 12GB model is worthwhile. Should I choose a cheaper Ryzen 5 5600, use an older CPU, or look for a specific used graphics card such as a 12GB RTX 3060 or Intel B580?

VRAM capacity doesn’t directly determine overall GPU performance. An older card with 11GB can still be slower than a newer 8GB card. More VRAM mainly helps when a game actually exceeds the card’s available memory. For 1080p esports and many games, 8GB can be enough, while newer AAA games and higher settings may benefit from 12GB. Around this budget, look for an Intel B580 if available, a used RTX 3060 12GB, or possibly a used RTX 3080 10GB. The RX 7600 is another option, but it has 8GB.
