Why do my Ajazz AK820 keyboard inputs randomly fail in games?

My Ajazz AK820 sometimes fails to register key presses, especially while playing CS2. It has also happened in other games, although less often. The missed inputs seem random, and I'm trying to figure out whether the problem is caused by the keyboard switches, polling rate, software, or something on my PC. The keyboard was purchased around January or February 2026, so it isn't very old. What troubleshooting steps should I try?

If you’re using a high polling rate such as 8000 Hz, try lowering it to 1000 or 2000 Hz and see whether the issue improves. Very high polling rates can occasionally cause compatibility or stability problems in games.

The Ajazz software doesn’t detect my keyboard for some reason, so I’m not currently sure how to change the polling rate.

The keyboard itself could be starting to fail. If the missed inputs happen with random keys and gradually become more frequent, that usually points to a hardware problem rather than the game.

It may be a faulty switch, especially if only certain keys are affected. The AK820 uses hot-swappable switches, so replace the problem switch with one that you know works. If the key starts registering normally, you’ve found the cause; otherwise, the issue may be with the socket, PCB, cable, or USB connection.

A cheap mechanical keyboard can develop intermittent key failures and then get steadily worse. Test the keyboard outside CS2, try another USB port and cable if possible, and check whether the same keys fail in a keyboard tester. If the problem follows the keyboard across different games or computers, a warranty replacement is probably the best option.

I’ve had something similar happen with another keyboard, but I assumed it was because it was from an unfamiliar brand. This one is only a few months old, and I wondered whether the problem was related to my PC because it happens most often in CS2, even though it has occurred in other games too.
