I'm building my first desktop after years of gaming on a laptop, and I'd like something powerful enough to handle demanding games such as Marvel Rivals at high settings for several years. I'm also aiming for an all-white build and am shopping through a nearby Micro Center.
I'm currently deciding between the Radeon RX 9070 XT and GeForce RTX 5070 Ti. The 9070 XT costs roughly $200 less, but I'm wondering whether the 5070 Ti's extra features and performance make it worth paying more. Gaming is my main priority, although I'd like the system to remain useful and capable for a long time.
This is my first build, so I'd also appreciate feedback on the rest of the parts and suggestions for lowering the total cost without sacrificing too much performance. I'd prefer to build it myself for the experience and customization, but I may consider a prebuilt if the price difference becomes too large.

I’d also look into a Micro Center CPU bundle, such as one built around the Ryzen 5 7600X3D or Ryzen 7 7800X3D. Those bundles can save enough money to put toward the graphics card, and for a gaming-focused system the RX 9070 XT is usually a stronger value than paying extra for the 5070 Ti.
The RX 9070 XT should be more than capable for this build. One owner reported around 240 FPS in Marvel Rivals at ultra settings with an all-white system using a Ryzen 7 9800X3D and a Sapphire Nitro+ 9070 XT. You may also be able to reduce the total cost by choosing a less expensive motherboard, SSD, cooler, or fan setup without giving up much gaming performance.
If gaming is your main use and you aren’t especially focused on ray tracing, content creation, video editing, or other GPU-heavy productivity work, the RX 9070 XT is probably the better value. The 9070 XT and RTX 5070 Ti are generally close enough in regular gaming performance that the extra $200 is difficult to justify. Nvidia’s advantages make more sense if you specifically need features such as stronger ray tracing or software support for certain creative and AI workloads.
Before buying every part separately, compare the complete cost with similarly equipped prebuilts. Your planned parts may be priced close to an existing high-end system, so a prebuilt could occasionally be cheaper. Still, building yourself gives you more control over the exact components, appearance, and future upgrades.
