G-SYNC, V-SYNC, and Frame Limiters Aren’t Preventing Tearing on a 300Hz Monitor

G-SYNC, V-SYNC, and frame limiters don't seem to work in any game. I'm using a 300Hz ASUS 2560×1440 monitor with a GeForce RTX 5080, Ryzen 7 9800X3D, 32GB of RAM, an ASUS B850 motherboard, and an 850W power supply. I've tried NVIDIA Control Panel settings, RivaTuner, DDU, resetting the PC, and matching the frame rate to the monitor refresh rate, but I still see screen tearing. The problem is especially noticeable when using my mouse and keyboard; it seems to disappear when I use a controller. I've also tried changing my mouse polling rate in Razer Synapse, but that didn't help. What else should I check?

The mouse behavior is also worth investigating. A very high polling rate can sometimes expose USB or frame-pacing issues, especially at 300Hz, although changing it from roughly 1,300–1,600Hz to around 600Hz apparently didn’t fix this case. Try another USB port, preferably one directly connected to the motherboard rather than a hub, and test with a different mouse if possible. Also check whether the tearing occurs when the mouse is completely disconnected, which can help determine whether the input device is contributing to the problem.

I changed the polling rate in Razer Synapse and tried connecting the mouse to a different motherboard USB port, but the tearing still happened. I’ll test another mouse and cable next.

Since the issue changes depending on whether you use a controller or mouse and keyboard, first rule out the display connection and G-SYNC setup. Try a properly certified DisplayPort 1.4 cable, another DisplayPort input on the monitor, and another output on the graphics card if available. In NVIDIA Control Panel, open Set up G-SYNC and enable it for both windowed and full-screen applications. Then, under Manage 3D settings, verify that V-SYNC is enabled globally or for the affected games. A bad cable, port, or incomplete G-SYNC configuration can cause problems at very high refresh rates.
