I've been away from PC hardware for about a decade and would like advice on upgrading or replacing my current system. It handles graphically simple games, but I'm also a fan of the GTA series and want a system capable of running GTA 6 whenever the PC version arrives. I'm based in Miami, Florida, near the W Flagler Street Micro Center, and most of my old parts were purchased in the Netherlands.
My current Mini-ITX system consists of an Intel Core i5-6600K, Asus Z170I Pro Gaming motherboard, 16GB of DDR4-3200 memory, an EVGA 650W Gold power supply, GTX 1060 6GB, Samsung 960 EVO 500GB NVMe SSD, Fractal Design Core 500 case, and an Arctic Freezer i32 cooler. My monitor is an LG UltraGear 27GP850 at 2560×1440 and I would prefer to keep it.
I'm open to replacing nearly everything and am willing to spend more for a higher-end, long-lasting build. I like compact systems, but building in Mini-ITX was difficult, so I'm perfectly happy moving to a larger case. I also prefer a clean, understated appearance without RGB lighting. What platform and parts would make the most sense?

Since your current CPU, motherboard, and graphics card are all several generations old, a complete rebuild makes more sense than trying to upgrade around them. For a new system, AM5 is the most sensible foundation: a Ryzen 5 7500F or 7600 is already strong for gaming, while a Ryzen 7 X3D chip would be a worthwhile step up if you want extra longevity. Use two matched DDR5 modules rather than a single stick, ideally 32GB total. For graphics at 1440p, choose the fastest current GPU that fits your budget, and check its physical size and power requirements before choosing the case. A larger, airflow-focused case will make the build much easier and quieter, and you can select non-RGB versions of nearly every component.
I wouldn’t build specifically around GTA 6 yet because the PC release date and hardware requirements aren’t known. Rockstar’s PC versions often arrive later than the console versions, so there’s no reliable way to target exact parts today. A balanced modern gaming build should still give you a major improvement over the GTX 1060. Your 1440p monitor is worth keeping, but the 650W power supply may need to be replaced if you choose a higher-end graphics card; an 850W Gold unit is a safer choice for many powerful GPU options.
