I received an alert that someone in another country tried to sign in to my Apple Account, so I immediately tried to change the password from my iPhone 14 Pro running iOS 26.6. In Settings, Face ID scans successfully and shows approval, but then nothing happens. I also can't change the password through Apple's website. What should I try next?

Treat the sign-in alert seriously: review the devices and phone numbers connected to the account, remove anything unfamiliar, and don’t approve unexpected sign-in prompts. Avoid repeatedly guessing the password, since that can trigger an account lock. Apple Support may be necessary if the account has already been restricted.
Since the password change is failing both in Settings and online, check whether another trusted Apple device is signed in to the same account. You can also restart the iPhone, install any available iOS update, and try again from Settings. If the security delay has completed and it still won’t proceed, contact Apple Support directly so they can verify the account and check for a security lock.
This may be caused by Stolen Device Protection. When it’s enabled, changing your Apple Account password can require a security delay. After the delay—often about an hour—you need to authenticate again before the change can continue. Try it from a familiar location, such as home or work, and make sure the phone is connected to the internet.

I waited and tried again, but Face ID still approves me and then nothing happens.
