I'm reworking the cooling in my Fractal Define 7 Compact after upgrading to a CPU that runs noticeably hotter. My CPU cooler and rear exhaust use Noctua fans at roughly 1000–1200 RPM depending on CPU temperature, but the case's restrictive front panel limits how much extra airflow I get above about 800 RPM.
I'm considering filling the front panel with several inexpensive Arctic P12 Pro PST LN fans and running them around 600–800 RPM to maintain positive pressure without adding much noise. However, I've seen reports of resonance, startup clicking, and turbulence when these fans are close to restrictive mesh. They would have about an inch of clearance, and I can control each fan separately to avoid synchronized harmonics.
Am I worrying too much for this low-RPM use, or would a slightly more expensive fan be worthwhile? Would 140 mm fans or higher-static-pressure models be a better option?

You’re not completely overthinking it—fan spacing, mesh clearance, and harmonics really can affect perceived noise—but the concerns are probably overstated for the P12 Pro at these speeds. Corsair’s 120 mm case fans are another decent alternative if you find them on sale, though they may not offer a meaningful advantage over the cheaper Arctics.
The bigger issue is that adding more intake fans may not produce a dramatic temperature change in this case. A less restrictive case, better front airflow, or a different CPU cooling setup would likely make a larger difference than moving from one good low-speed fan to another.
This may be more of a case limitation than a fan limitation. For a restrictive front panel, fans with stronger static pressure can help, and the P12 series is already a reasonable choice for that role. If your case supports 140 mm fans, those may move the same amount of air at lower RPM and could be quieter than several 120 mm fans.
Also, avoid running every fan at exactly the same speed. Slightly different curves can reduce audible beat frequencies.
The P12 Pro models should be fine for this. Most of the notorious resonance complaints involved the older standard P12s, while the Pro version improved things considerably. The LN model is essentially the same fan with a lower maximum speed, so there’s no strong reason to specifically seek out that version if you can set a normal P12 Pro’s curve yourself.
At 600–800 RPM, airflow turbulence and case resonance will matter more than motor noise. Your clearance and separate fan control are sensible precautions, but the Define’s restrictive front panel will still limit the temperature improvement. A five-pack of P12s is inexpensive enough that they’re a reasonable experiment.

It’s a Define 7 Compact. It handled my 3700X reasonably well, but the 5600X3D runs much hotter. I tried NF-A14x25 G2 fans in the front, though their placement seemed to favor either the CPU or GPU rather than cooling both evenly. Depending on the setup, I was seeing either roughly 82–84°C on the CPU with the GPU hotspot near 92°C, or 87–89°C on the CPU with the GPU closer to 79°C.
