I'm comparing the Thermalright Burst Assassin 120 SE ARGB, Thermalright Assassin X 120 SE, and Thermalright Assassin X 120R SE. They all appear to be single-tower air coolers, but the specifications and names are confusing. I'd like to know the practical differences in cooling performance, fan design, noise, and build, and which one offers the best value if I want something quiet and inexpensive. If you've used any of them, I'd appreciate firsthand feedback.

The Burst Assassin has worked well for several fairly demanding CPUs in my experience. The four-heat-pipe Assassin X models are also perfectly usable, but the six-pipe model has more thermal capacity and is the safer choice for higher-power processors.
The main difference is the number of heat pipes. The Burst Assassin has six, while both Assassin X models use four. The Assassin X variants also appear to use slightly different fan versions, possibly with different maximum speeds or blade designs. Between these choices, the Burst Assassin should provide the best cooling, assuming the prices are reasonably close.
If you’re willing to spend a little more, a dual-tower cooler such as the Peerless Assassin or Phantom Spirit would offer a larger performance jump, though it may be unnecessary for a modest-power CPU.
The two Assassin X listings seem to be essentially the same cooler. The different names may come from seller-specific labeling, minor color or fan differences, and inconsistent product descriptions rather than a meaningful change in the heatsink itself. Check the listed fan specifications, mounting support, and included lighting before choosing between them.
My priority is keeping the system quiet without spending much, so fan noise and the actual price matter as much as a small temperature difference.
