Why does my Windows 11 laptop display look too large or too small?

My laptop's display no longer looks normal. When I try to restore the original screen size, the desktop and text end up either much too small or much too large. I've reset the display settings and tried the defaults, but the desktop still appears smaller than it used to. Adjusting the display also makes the mouse pointer unusually large or tiny. The screen is currently set to its native 2560×1600 resolution with 125% scaling, although the recommended scaling looks excessively large. I'm not sure what caused this or how to restore the previous appearance.

Start by confirming that 2560×1600 is selected as the display resolution, since that is the panel’s native setting. Then adjust Windows display scaling separately—125% is common for this resolution, but you can try 100% or 150% to see which looks closest to normal. The cursor size is controlled independently under Accessibility > Mouse pointer and touch, so reset its size and color there as well. If the issue began suddenly, reinstalling or updating the graphics driver may also restore the correct scaling behavior.

The display is already set to 2560×1600, and I’m using 125% scaling because the recommended option makes everything look enormous. I’ll check the separate mouse-pointer settings and the graphics driver next.
