How should I prepare for a 30-minute VP of Engineering interview for a senior DevOps role?

I have a 30-minute online interview with a company's VP of Engineering tomorrow. I've already completed the technical interview stages, and the company is publicly traded. Since this is for a senior DevOps position, I'm not sure whether to expect more technical questions, a culture and team-fit conversation, or a broader discussion about my experience and decision-making. What would be the best way to prepare, and are there any topics or questions I should be ready for?

Do some quick research on the company, its products, and any recent news. If there’s a public trial or a product you can reasonably try, spend a little time with it so you can speak about the customer or business context. That can make the conversation much more concrete.

Even after the technical rounds, have practical examples ready from your DevOps experience. Be prepared to talk about building systems from scratch, Kubernetes fundamentals, autoscaling, networking, and situations where you had to choose between competing approaches. You can also mention automation or AI-assisted workflows if you’ve used them to improve efficiency, but focus on the measurable outcome rather than simply saying you use AI. The VP will likely want confidence that you can operate independently and make decisions responsibly.
