I'm planning a gaming-focused PC upgrade and am deciding between the 16GB RX 9060 XT for about $530 and the RX 9070 XT for roughly $860. My monitor is 1440p with a refresh rate of 144Hz or higher, and I mainly play games such as Cyberpunk 2077 and Forza Motorsport 6. I'm not interested in 4K, so I'm wondering whether the 9070 XT would provide a noticeable enough improvement to justify the extra cost. If the 9060 XT can run these games smoothly at 1440p with high or max settings, I'd rather save the money. For anyone using a 9060 XT at 1440p, what kind of settings and frame rates are you getting?

The regular RX 9070 is worth considering too. It offers a large step up from the 9060 XT, while the 9070 XT may not be worth its premium unless the price gap is small. The RX 9070 GRE could also make sense if it’s priced close to the 9060 XT.
Based on using both cards in similar 1440p systems, the 9060 XT can absolutely play at 1440p, but it doesn’t perform nearly as well as the 9070 XT. The difference is most obvious in demanding games and when trying to maintain high frame rates with demanding settings enabled.
The 9060 XT 16GB is a solid 1440p card and should handle these games well, especially if you’re willing to lower a few demanding settings. It can offer good frame rates, but consistently targeting 144Hz with maximum settings is where it starts to run out of headroom.
The 9070 XT is the better choice if you want to max out games and stay closer to high-refresh-rate performance. It’s a much more capable 1440p GPU and should remain comfortable for longer as newer games become more demanding. It can also handle 4K reasonably well, although that isn’t necessary for your use case.
