My Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX 7800 XT has been experiencing frequent driver timeouts, so I'm looking for a reliable replacement with similar or better performance. My system has a Ryzen 7 5700X3D, 32GB of DDR4-3200 memory, an ASUS PRIME B550M-A motherboard, a 2TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD, and a Deepcool PN750M 750W power supply. Everything is installed in an Endorfy Ventum 200 Air case, and I'm using a 1440p gaming monitor. I tested an RTX 2060 in the same system and didn't experience the timeouts, but it isn't powerful enough for 1440p gaming. My budget is around $950, and I'd like a card that physically fits the case, stays within the capabilities of my 750W PSU, and offers performance comparable to or better than the RX 7800 XT.

An RX 9070 XT would be the most obvious upgrade in this budget range. It offers a meaningful step up from the 7800 XT and generally works with a good-quality 750W supply, although the exact model’s size and connector requirements still need to be checked against the Ventum 200 Air’s GPU clearance. Choose a reasonably compact model and avoid aggressive factory-overclocked versions if power headroom is a concern.
Before replacing the graphics card, I’d investigate whether the issue is actually caused by power delivery, drivers, or Windows replacing the installed driver. A full-load stress test passing doesn’t completely rule out transient power problems, since gaming can create different load spikes. It’s worth doing a clean driver install, disabling automatic driver replacement, checking both power connectors, and testing with a different driver version.
Recent Windows and graphics-driver updates have caused black screens and driver resets for some AMD users. Try using Display Driver Uninstaller in Safe Mode, install a known-stable driver, and disable Windows Update from automatically installing a display driver. If the card is stable after that, replacing it may not be necessary.

I already ran OCCT and other stress tests continuously for many hours without a crash, which is why I’m leaning toward the graphics card or its drivers rather than the power supply.
