I upgraded my processor to a Ryzen 7 5800XT on a Gigabyte A320M S2H rev. 1 motherboard and updated the BIOS from F51 to the newest version. Afterward, the system only detects the NVMe drive; my SATA SSD and hard drive no longer appear. I reset the CMOS, installed the latest chipset drivers, loaded the BIOS defaults, and confirmed that AHCI is enabled with CSM turned on. I reseated the SATA cables, but both drives are still missing. My power calculator estimates around 600–699 watts, while my previous PSU was rated for 600 watts. What should I check next?

The wattage estimate alone doesn’t prove the PSU is the problem, but losing both SATA drives at the same time points toward shared power or cabling. Try the original PSU cables only if they are confirmed compatible, or use the cables included with the new Corsair PSU. Don’t reuse modular SATA cables from the old unit. Also test one drive at a time with a different SATA power connector and motherboard port; if the drives still don’t appear in BIOS, stop repeatedly powering them on until the cabling is verified.
The most likely explanation is that a cable was disturbed while replacing the CPU. Reseat both the SATA data cables and the SATA power connectors at the drives and the PSU, then check whether the drives show up individually in the BIOS. If the PSU is modular, make absolutely sure the SATA power cables belong to that exact PSU model—modular cables are not interchangeable, even between brands or models. An incorrect cable can damage multiple SATA drives.
I reseated the SATA cables, but I may need to check the power side more carefully. I also replaced the 600 W unit with a Corsair 800 W PSU, though now I’m troubleshooting a separate no-display issue.
