My mouse pointer is normally red, but today the regular pointer changed back to the default white style. Interestingly, it still turns red when I move it over selectable text. Changing the pointer color and appearance in the mouse accessibility settings does not restore the red pointer in its normal state. Has anyone else experienced this, and is there a reliable fix?

Normally, the pointer color is changed under Mouse and cursor settings, where you can select a custom color such as red. However, since you have already tried changing it there, this is probably not a settings mistake and is more likely an update-related bug affecting only the normal pointer state.
This appears to be a known Windows 11 issue caused by a recent system update. The update can make the regular pointer display its default appearance while other pointer states, such as the text-selection cursor, keep the customized color. Check whether your system installed a recent update, and look for a follow-up fix or consider uninstalling the problematic update if the option is available.
