I'm planning an AM5 build with a Ryzen 5 7500F and want it to remain reliable for many years. Earlier reports described Ryzen processors—particularly some X3D models—being damaged by excessive voltage or motherboard and BIOS problems. I'm trying to understand what actually affects that risk: the motherboard model or manufacturer, BIOS version, EXPO or other memory settings, the power supply, cooling, or something else. If I choose a reputable motherboard, use a quality PSU, install a stable BIOS, avoid manual overclocking, and provide good airflow, can I reasonably expect the 7500F to last for years? Are there any specific setup steps, settings, or motherboard features I should use to minimize the chance of premature CPU or motherboard failure?

The 7500F is a relatively low-power 65 W processor, so it is not generally considered a high-risk chip for this kind of failure. Use a reputable power supply, keep the CPU and motherboard area properly cooled, and avoid unnecessarily aggressive voltage settings. There is never an absolute guarantee with electronics, but the expected risk is low.
The widely reported failures were primarily associated with certain Ryzen X3D processors and excessive voltage behavior, not the Ryzen 5 7500F. Every major motherboard brand had some reports, although some models appeared more frequently than others. For a 7500F, installing a current stable BIOS and leaving manual voltage and overclocking settings alone should be a sensible approach. I would focus on choosing a well-reviewed board, checking that the BIOS is stable rather than automatically installing the newest experimental release, enabling only moderate memory settings, and monitoring temperatures and voltages after assembly. There is no need to switch platforms solely because of the earlier X3D-related reports.
Good case airflow and cooling are important, including airflow over the motherboard VRMs. If you want to be conservative, a mild undervolt can reduce heat and power consumption, but it is optional and should be tested for stability. With sensible temperatures, a quality PSU, a stable BIOS, and no aggressive overclocking, a 7500F should reasonably be expected to last for many years.
