I'm troubleshooting a small number of ThinkPad L14 Gen 6 (21S6) laptops running Windows 11 25H2. They use the Intel Ethernet Connection (18) I219-V adapter. Whenever driver version 20.0.3.24 is installed, the laptop cannot connect to the network, and PXE deployment also fails because the adapter does not receive an IP address in WinPE. Rolling back to 20.0.2.22 immediately restores connectivity.
This only affects three devices out of roughly 250 so far. The affected systems all expose far fewer adapter properties: Get-NetAdapterAdvancedProperty -Name "Ethernet" -AllProperties returns 51 properties instead of the 82 commonly reported by working systems. The affected machines came from the same order, although other units from that order work normally. Changing driver versions does not change the property count.
The issue occurs with a clean installation from a current Microsoft image and with drivers downloaded directly from Intel. Assigning a static IP also makes no difference. The impact is mainly noticeable when using the laptop's built-in wired port without a dock. Has anyone seen this hardware or firmware variation on the L14 Gen 6, or found a reliable fix?

I’ve seen similar behavior on another L14 generation where neither a BIOS update nor a clean Windows installation fixed the wired adapter. Until the cause is identified, the practical workaround is to keep the known-good 20.0.2.22 driver and block automatic driver replacement for these machines.
Check whether MAC address passthrough is enabled in the BIOS. That setting has caused problems with newer network drivers on some business laptops, so it’s worth comparing the BIOS configuration between a working and affected machine.
There may be a firmware-validation problem between the manufacturer and Intel. Use Lenovo’s own BIOS, firmware, and driver packages rather than allowing Windows Update to replace them, and ask Lenovo whether the affected serial numbers have a known system-board or Ethernet firmware issue.
Since the systems are still under warranty, open a Lenovo support case and provide the difference in adapter properties, the failed driver version, and the PXE results. This looks more like a platform firmware or hardware variation than a normal Windows networking issue.
