My microphone stopped working several years ago, and I still can't get any input from it. I've replaced the motherboard with a Gigabyte B450M K, performed a clean Windows 11 installation, reinstalled and updated the audio drivers, checked microphone privacy permissions, and reset the Windows Audio services. I've also tested several 3.5 mm microphones and Bluetooth headphones with microphones connected through a USB dongle. The microphones work normally on other devices, and the Bluetooth headphones play audio correctly on this PC, but their microphone still records nothing. Windows detects each microphone, yet the input meter never moves. What else could cause this?

Double-check which recording device is selected. Even with only one physical microphone connected, Windows may show several input sources. Open the sound settings, select the intended microphone as the input device, and verify that its input volume isn't muted or set to zero. Also confirm where the 3.5 mm microphone is connected.
Since the microphones work on other computers and both the motherboard jack and a USB Bluetooth adapter show the same behavior, check Device Manager for audio or USB devices marked with a yellow warning icon. That could reveal a driver or hardware-enumeration problem that isn't obvious from the normal sound settings.
