I'm visiting Micro Center for the first time and originally planned to buy a CPU, motherboard, and power supply for a home server. Since the store has bundle deals that include a CPU, motherboard, and 32GB of DDR5 memory, I'm considering upgrading my main gaming PC and moving its current parts into the server instead.
My current setup is:
- ASUS ROG Strix Z590-E Gaming WiFi
- Intel Core i9-10900K
- NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti
- 32GB DDR4-3600
- Samsung Odyssey G7 28-inch 4K 144Hz IPS monitor
I mainly play Escape from Tarkov, Hunt: Showdown, Battlefield 6, Valorant, Rainbow Six Siege, Smite 2, and Path of Exile 2. I prefer playing at 4K and aiming for 144Hz whenever possible.
The biggest upgrade would be the CPU, which would require a new motherboard and DDR5 memory. The current bundles look like a good value, but I'm unsure whether upgrading is worthwhile at 4K with my existing graphics card. Would a Ryzen 7 7800X3D, Ryzen 7 9800X3D, Ryzen 7 9850X3D, or Intel Core Ultra 7 270K Plus bundle make sense, or should I keep my current platform?

For your game list, I’d lean toward the 7800X3D bundle if the price is good. Tarkov tends to benefit noticeably from the extra cache, and the bundle should give you a modern platform with DDR5 memory.
I compared a newer Intel bundle with a 9850X3D system while gaming at ultrawide 1440p with a high-end graphics card, and the difference was under 10 FPS in several games. At 4K, the gap may be even smaller because the GPU is doing most of the work. Unless the bundle is an especially good deal, keeping your current system and using the money for a future graphics-card upgrade could be smarter.
Since you’re gaming at 4K, the graphics card is usually the limiting factor, so a CPU upgrade may not produce a large average-FPS increase. You could reasonably keep the 10900K unless you’re seeing CPU-related stuttering or poor performance in specific games. A newer CPU would still help minimums, frame pacing, and future upgrades, but it may not be the best value right now.
It depends heavily on the bundle prices, but the X3D chips are generally the safer gaming picks. Intel can make more sense if its bundle is substantially cheaper or if you also need strong productivity performance.
A Ryzen 7 7800X3D or 9800X3D bundle would be a strong choice for gaming. The extra cache on these CPUs can help a lot in CPU-heavy games, especially Escape from Tarkov.
