I have a PC with an RTX 4060 connected to a 55-inch Samsung Neo QLED TV, and I sit roughly 3 meters away while gaming. I mostly play single-player games such as GTA V, Uncharted, and Red Dead Redemption 2, and I'm generally happy with around 30–60 FPS. In this setup, would 1440p with Ultra settings usually look better than 4K with Low or Medium settings?

At that viewing distance, 4K probably won’t look dramatically sharper than 1440p. I’d start with 1440p and DLSS, then use the extra performance for higher-quality settings. An RTX 4060 can handle a lot of games this way, although its 8GB of VRAM may make Ultra textures or other maximum settings problematic in newer titles. Medium or High often looks nearly as good while running more smoothly.
Try both settings in the games you actually play and compare them from your normal seating position. In general, 1440p Ultra will often provide a better overall image than 4K Low, while 4K Medium can be worthwhile if the game still maintains a stable frame rate and the reduced settings aren’t obvious.
I wouldn’t reject 1440p just because it doesn’t scale evenly into a 4K panel. Non-integer scaling can still produce a sharper result than 1080p, and 1440p should generally look cleaner than 1080p on a 4K TV. The TV’s upscaling quality and your viewing distance matter too, so use your own eyes as the final test.

There’s no need to use the same preset for every game. Some titles benefit more from higher resolution, while others look better with improved shadows, textures, or effects, so adjusting the balance per game makes sense.
