Hey everyone! I'm 21 and currently working as an IT help desk assistant, mostly handling tier 1 and tier 2 issues. I'm looking to transition into a systems administrator role or get into IT infrastructure management. I've started learning PowerShell scripting, but I'm unsure about the best certifications and skills I should focus on to advance my career. I'd love to hear any advice you all have on how to level up and what steps you took to move up in your careers!

Absolutely, working in help desk roles can definitely set you up for bigger things! One thing that really helped me was getting involved in extra tasks during downtime. Don’t rush into scripting right away—focus on understanding the fundamental tasks like log retention and backups. Keep working towards certifications and maybe even consider a degree down the line!

That sounds like a solid plan! I’ve been practicing basic commands and got into some Hyper-V tasks like imaging. I'm also eyeing the Microsoft Certified Azure Management certification, along with my CompTIA A+ and Cyber Security certification.
