The dorm network works normally on my phone, Mac, and Steam Deck, but it doesn't appear in the available networks list on my Windows PC. Other networks sometimes show up, including my phone's hotspot. I've already reset the network adapters, reinstalled the drivers, and tried several common troubleshooting steps. The motherboard is a B650 Eagle AX. Ethernet also isn't working, although that could be a separate issue because I'm using an inexpensive cable and already registered the computer's Ethernet MAC address with the college. The computer was shipped to college and arrived with slight damage to the side panel, but I haven't noticed anything else wrong. I've contacted campus support but haven't heard back yet. Check whether the Wi‑Fi antennas are connected to the two antenna ports on the back of the motherboard. The B650 Eagle AX relies on external antennas, and without them the adapter may only detect very strong nearby signals—like a phone hotspot—while missing the dorm’s access points. The antennas usually come with the motherboard, so look through the box and packing materials. Since the PC was shipped and the side panel was damaged, also make sure the antenna connectors or Wi‑Fi module weren’t knocked loose.
I didn’t realize it needed separate antennas. I don’t remember seeing any included with the motherboard, so I’ll check the original packaging and buy compatible replacements if they’re missing.
