Why is so much of my RAM being used at startup?

I'm having an issue with my PC where it shows that I have 16GB of RAM installed, but it seems like only about 8GB is usable. When I start my computer, I notice that around 80% of my RAM is consumed right away. Sometimes, a significant portion of the RAM is being utilized even when I'm not running any applications. I've read that this could be due to a memory leak, but I'm not quite sure how to investigate or confirm that. Any advice on how to check what's going on?

I had a similar problem when I added RAM sticks that didn't match, so make sure your RAM is compatible. Sometimes different brands or speeds can cause issues.

Honestly, just let your OS handle it. Windows often reserves RAM for its own use and allocates it as needed for programs. It's usually not something to worry about.

I think I didn't explain well. I see that my PC uses about 10GB, but only shows 4-5GB available for applications.
