I'm building my first gaming PC after spending most of my life on consoles, and I'd like it to handle 1440p gaming smoothly. My ideal combination is a Radeon RX 9070 XT and Ryzen 7 9800X3D, but I'm unsure which motherboard, memory, storage, power supply, and cooling parts to choose. I'm based in the EU, so local pricing matters, and I'd like to keep the complete PC around €2,000 if possible. I'm also buying a monitor, mouse, and keyboard separately. The monitor will be used daily for work and coding as well as gaming, so recommendations for a good 1440p display would be especially useful.

For the core parts, 32 GB of DDR5-6000 is a good target; timings matter less than getting a reliable kit at a reasonable price. A 1–2 TB NVMe drive and an 850 W quality PSU should cover this class of system. A 27-inch 1440p monitor is a good balance for both coding and gaming. OLED models look fantastic, but a good IPS display may be easier on the budget and can be more practical for long periods of static work.
For the mouse, grip style and hand size matter more than simply choosing the highest specifications, so try to compare shapes before buying. A reliable wireless mouse around €50 can be perfectly good. For the keyboard, a normal mechanical model from a reputable brand is fine unless you specifically play competitive shooters and want rapid-trigger features. For work and coding, prioritize a comfortable layout and a monitor with good text clarity and adjustable ergonomics.
The 7800X3D should still be excellent for 1440p and generally makes more sense for a value-focused build. If the 9070 XT fits the budget, it’s a strong choice, but dropping to a regular 9070 may leave more room for a better monitor and peripherals. Don’t overspend on the motherboard—just make sure it supports the chosen AM5 processor and has the features you actually need.
A Ryzen 7 7800X3D or 7600X3D could be a better value than the 9800X3D, depending on availability where you live. The money saved could go toward the graphics card, monitor, or other components. A sensible setup would be a compatible B650 or B850 motherboard, 32 GB of DDR5, a 1–2 TB NVMe SSD, and a quality 850 W power supply. Check prices in your specific country because EU component costs vary quite a bit.

That’s the route I’m considering too: a 7500X3D or 7800X3D paired with a Radeon 9070 or 9070 GRE. A reasonably priced motherboard, 32 GB of DDR5, a 2 TB SSD, and a decent air or liquid cooler should be enough without overspending.
