I've got a 2018 ASUS X540BA laptop with an AMD A9-9425 dual-core processor, 8 GB of DDR4 RAM, and a 480 GB SSD. It has an integrated AMD Radeon R5 graphics card too. I'm looking for suggestions on a lightweight Linux distribution that would run well on it. I've heard LXQt and XFCE are solid options and wanted to see if anyone has recommendations or experiences to share.

Your processor is on the lower end, so I suggest going with XFCE. It generally feels more polished compared to some other options, even if it's a tad heavier. It should work fine on your setup without much hassle.

Why not give LXQt a shot? It’s lightweight and might be a better fit depending on what you're looking for.
