For the past couple of months, my computer has been randomly black-screening or freezing, especially while streaming with OBS or playing games. Audio often continues, and sometimes the display comes back after flashing, but the game, OBS, and most other applications have already crashed. Discord usually remains running. A computer technician replaced nearly everything except the 850W power supply, SSD, and some cables, and the crashes became less frequent but did not stop. I also received a fresh Windows 11 installation during the repairs. The system uses an RTX 5080, Intel Core Ultra 9 285K, Gigabyte Z890 AORUS PRO ICE motherboard, 32GB of DDR5-6000 memory, two monitors, and OBS. Event Viewer reports Event ID 153 involving nvlddmkm and a LiveKernelEvent 141. OBS also reports an NVENC error saying the device passed to the API is invalid. What should I check next, and could the power supply, SSD, drivers, or Windows installation still be responsible?

The nvlddmkm LiveKernelEvent 141 and NVENC invalid-device message both point toward the graphics driver or GPU losing access to the card. That does not prove the GPU itself is defective, but it makes driver cleanup, default BIOS settings, removing any overclock or undervolt, and checking GPU power connections important. If the crashes continue with a clean driver setup and minimal hardware connected, the remaining power supply or storage components should be tested rather than assumed to be fine.
